Casino Royale

Casino Royale

Today at college the creative and media students were fortunate enough to experience the casino royale performance, not the james bond film. The show was based on a roulette wheel, painted on to the floor, a spotlight spun the wheel until it landed on a number, each number was a different performance, niether the cast or the audience knew what order the show would go in. Each performance was from different varieties, it was an all singing, all dancing show.

There was a huuuuge variety of characters, some comic such as Mr Bean and the double act, Hansel and Gretel.. there was a group of female dancers who performed a number of parts in the show, such as bollywood and mamma mia. All the Characters played a huge part in the show, dancing and singing every other performance, switching in and out of clothes.. mastering the quick changes and fast speedy paces.

My favourite was the comedy side of the show, specifically mr bean and hansel and gretel, both of these acts made me laugh and were the ones i remembered, however my least favourite ones were the lost in the illusion, this act bored me and didn't keep me satisfied.

Evaluation of the Culture Show

What i have learnt about the Sony A1 Camera:

Composition is the placements of objects in the frame.
Rule of Thirds is referred to the "centre of interest". It places the picture you have taken/ the film you have recorded into an equally spaced 3 by 3  grid.

Lines:
-Horizontal lines create stability
-Vertical lines create strength
-and diagonal lines create a sense of drama

Looking Space
An empty space is where the subject is looking/ facing/talking, its then less constricted. Its very important for giving the audience an awareness of space.

Motion Space
Empty space on the side where the subject is moving i or walking, it it heightens the feeling of emotion.

Butlers Marston Autumn Concert

Last sunday Butlers Marston church hosted a classical music performance starring Jessie-Ann Richardson on the cello, David Fletcher on vocals and bass and Butlers Marstons very own Lynn Carter on piano. The Show started at 7pm and finished around 9pm including an interval. It included music from Bach, Schubert, Finzi and Rachmaninov. Each song was sang and played with great emotion mostly anger but occasionaly happiness.
It was mainly targeted at adults and it didn't appeal to my generation. I personally did not enjoy the performance however the adults around the room did and all applauded whilst the performers took a bow.

The Switch

A couple of weeks ago i went to Leamington Spa to watch a film called The Switch, starring Jason Batemen and Jennifer Aniston, directed by Josh Gordon and Will Speck. The romcom film was shot in the USA and released on Wednesday the 1st of September.

Wally Mars (Jason Batemen) and Kassie Larson (Jennifer Aniston) have been bestfriends since they can remember. When Kassie decides she wants a baby she turns to sperm donar Roland (Patrick Wilson).  But after a drunken night Wally swaps Rolands sperm with his own. 7 years later he meets Kassies son, his own psychological double. After putting the pieces together Wally soon remembers what he did, and plucks up the courage to tell Kassie..

I would give this film a 8 out of 10 because it made me laugh and at some points i found it quite emotional. Other people might disagree with me because its either not to their taste or it wasnt targeted to thier age group.

The Cultural Cafe Performance.

On the 24th September a Yao performance was hosted at Stratford-Upon Avon College. A group of Chinese singers/ dancers gave the students a two minute taster of what they've been practicing most their lives. The performance included both men and women showing off their singing talents, two men proving how strong they are and getting the audience involved; two members of the audience were challenged to competing against one of the strongest and oldest looking men there, the first volunteer was thrown against the wall, proving the strength of his opponent.

The performance clearly gave the room a mixed atmosphere, one minute there was a intense feeling making each present heart stop and the next whilst the men and woman sang, the audience applauded.

The performance met my personal expectations, because its targets were reached, showing 'a unique experience through dance, music and costume'.

The performers taught students at Stratford about their culture, through a different language, you could tell they were pleased to show what they've learnt and experienced through dancing and singing. Each song they sang held a different meaning like over here in england. The outfits they were wearing showed the creativity and talent in their country.

I recommend this show to adults mainly because they are more likely to understand it and find it more entertaining.
